How To Install Iron Fences

Along with concrete fences, wrought iron fences are a popular alternative for homeowners who wish to keep their houses safe. The iron fence protects and provides privacy while also serving as the house’s face. With the installation of a stunning and architecturally suitable iron fence, your property will become more opulent and outstanding.

APPROPRIATE TIME TO INSTALL AN IRON FENCE

During the dry, warm months, the project will be easier and more enjoyable. You may not be able to start the project if the ground is frozen, especially in locations that endure extreme cold. Moreover, if you want to fence your entire property, start as early as possible, since fence installation might take a long time.

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

The majority of the materials used in wrought iron fence installation are heavy.  Each dry concrete bag weighs roughly 50 pounds. Moreover, fence panels are not only heavy but also large and unwieldy.

To protect yourself from injuries, raise yourself from your feet, and maintain a straight back. Wear heavy-duty gloves during the installation

When you’re ready, start installing your new wrought iron fence by following the steps below.

INSTALLING AN IRON FENCE

Even for individuals who are new to home remodeling, installing a wrought iron fence can be a simple and enjoyable project. Metal Solutions’ instructions will guide you through the installation of practically any prefabricated fence.

Step 1. SETTING YOUR TERMINAL POSTS

Although post depth and hole diameter are dependent on local weather and soil conditions, holes for terminal posts and line posts are generally about 8″ – 10” in diameter and 18″ deep with sloped sides.

First of all, locate the boundary lines to your property. To mark the property lines of your land, you can use stakes and string. After marking the property lines, use a shovel to dig all terminal post holes.

On the next step, put posts down on the holes. The post should be centered in the hole and the distance between the two posts is 70 inches. Make sure the post is straight, perpendicular to the ground and parallel with the other post. You can do this by using a string in addition to leveling instrument ruler

Finally, pour concrete around the post (about 2 bags of 80 lbs cement, 4000 psi), fill to ground level, and use a trowel to make it. Keep the concrete cures for 48 hours. You can cover that place up with dirt or sand to keep people from crossing and prevent cars from driving over it. If necessary, lay down additional stones for further support.

Step 2: HANGING YOUR IRON FENCE PANEL

When you are ready to hang your wrought iron fence panels, make sure that they are prepared by following these steps:

Firstly, prepare the iron fence panels, brackets, posts, as well as the iron screws and the drill machine.

Secondly, cover brackets to the horizontal rail of the iron fence. (The brackets are an important part of wrought iron fences, which are used to hold the fence component to the post. They slip over the rails, are positioned against the post, and are often secured with a self-tapping screw to keep everything together.)

Thirdly, ensure that the gap between the ground and the bottom of the fence panel is 1″. Fixing the panel by using a drill machine and iron screws

Fourthly, use a leveling instrument ruler to make sure the iron fence panel is straight. Making sure your home’s fence straight is a crucial step as a sagging fence can be a hazard to your kids and pets. Moreover, a drooping or leaning wrought iron fence will make your yard appear unattractive and diminish your home’s appeal.

After you have double-checked that the fence panel is straight, fix all the brackets.

How To Install Iron Fences

The process of hanging your wrought iron fence is not difficult, but it does require some preparation. In addition, this step may take some time. Therefore, you should prepare carefully.

Step 3: COMPLETE, TOUCH-UP AND CLEAN-UP OF INSTALLATION.

After the installation of your wrought iron fence, you have to cut down posts and ensure that the space between the ground level and the top of the posts is 6 feet. Once this has been completed, install the covers on the posts. You should use a hammer to complete this step

Clean the material as necessary. To remove dirt and any concrete that may have splashed onto the iron fences, a mild soap such as dish soap or castile soap will work. Wash the fence with a soft rag or sponge. Rinse with clean water to remove all soap, and let the fence airdry. To prevent rust, inspect and paint all places that have been damaged during handling and installation.

Please remind to check the wrought iron fences for signs of wear and oxidation on a regular basis,  and repaint as necessary

Finally, complete the wrought iron fences for customers and hand them over.
