PREPARATION FOR THE INSTALLATION. 

To install a sliding gate, be sure to prepare the sliding gate kit and the accessories.

INSTALLING SLIDING GATE 

The installation of a sliding driveway from Meta Solutions includes 4 key steps. These processes will be carefully guided by the following instructions, which you can follow easily to complete your project. 

1/ Setting Your Terminal Posts 

With sloped sides, terminal and line post holes are normally 20″ x 10″ in size and 18″ deep. In this instruction, we will guide you to the installation of a 16-feet sliding gate. 

Step 1: With a shovel, dig three terminal post holes and label them A, B, and C, from left to right.

Step 2: Put posts down on hole A and hole C. The post should be centered in the hole. When putting the post down, make sure that the stopper of post A is facing outside. Tie the string to post A and C and put post B down the hole B. Make sure both of them are straight

The distance of posts A, B, C must follow the illustration below:

Step 3: Using a string and a leveling instrument ruler to check for perpendicularity and parallelism. Check to see if the post is straight.

Step 4: Fill to ground level with concrete (about 3 bags of 80-pound cement, 4000 psi). Allow 48 hours for the concrete to cure.

A little-known fact about pouring is that there are two types: A wetting technique that requires you to mix up some materials before starting; as well as tamping where all ingredients need to be at room temperature or warmer so they can harden together quickly after being mixed into a cohesive mass. In either case, though, make sure your surroundings stay clear from interference.

2/ Install “V” Groove Track

Step 1: Prepare the “V” groove track for the sliding gate and 3/8″ x 4″ anchor bolts. Our factory will drill holes in the shape of a zigzag after receiving the track from the supplier.

Step 2: Put the ”V” groove track in the middle of post pairs A, B, and C. Make sure it is always straight 

Step 3: Fixing a “V” groove track with the ground in a zigzag pattern with a hammer drill machine, with a gap between two bolts of 12″

3/ Install Sliding Gate 

Step 1: Prepare the sliding outdoor gate and make sure two “V’ ‘track wheels roll in a straight line. Push sliding outdoor gate between each pair of posts, then install rollers on them

Step 2: Spraying lubricating oil over the surface of the “V” groove track. Make sure the sliding gate moves left and right smoothly 

Step 3: A stopper between a pair of post A and a second stopper on the ”V” groove track to limit movement of the sliding gate.

4/ Complete, Touch-Up and Clean-Up Of Installation 

Cleaning up after installation is one of the most important steps to take for your new sliding residential gate.

Step 1: After the installation of the sliding residential gate, wipe the material with a soft rag and mild soap as needed to remove dirt and any concrete that may have splashed onto the gate. To remove all soap, rinse with clean water. Inspect and paint all places that have been damaged during handling and installation to prevent rust. 

Step 2: Check the gate for indications of wear and oxidation regularly, and repaint as needed. If the sliding gate does not move smoothly, spray lubricating oil on the “V” groove track surface and check its operation.

CHOOSING THE SLIDING DRIVEWAY GATE OPENER

INSTALLING AN IRON FENCE

Step 1. SETTING YOUR TERMINAL POSTS

Although most depth and hole diameter are dependent on local weather and soil conditions, holes for terminal posts and line posts are generally about 8″ – 10” in diameter and 18″ deep with sloped sides.

First of all, locate the boundary lines to your property. To mark the property lines of your land, you can use stakes and string. After marking the property lines, use a shovel to dig all terminal post holes. 

In the next step, put posts down on the holes. The post should be centered in the hole and the distance between the two posts should be 70 inches. Make sure the post is straight, perpendicular to the ground, and parallel to the other post. You can do this by using a string in addition to leveling the instrument ruler

Finally, pour concrete around the post (about 2 bags of 80 lbs cement, 4000 psi), fill to ground level, and use a trowel to make it. Keep the concrete cures for 48 hours. You can cover that place up with dirt or sand to keep people from crossing and prevent cars from driving over it. If necessary, lay down additional stones for further support.

Step 2: HANGING YOUR IRON FENCE PANEL 

When you are ready to hang your wrought iron fence panels, make sure that they are prepared by following these steps: 

Firstly, prepare the iron fence panels, brackets, posts, as well as the iron screws and the drill machine. 

Secondly, cover brackets to the horizontal rail of the iron fence. (The brackets are an important part of wrought iron fences, which are used to hold the fence component to the post. They slip over the rails, are positioned against the post, and are often secured with a self-tapping screw to keep everything together.)

Thirdly, ensure that the gap between the ground and the bottom of the fence panel is 1″. Fixing the panel by using a drill machine and iron screws

2. INSTALLING A PEDESTRIAN GATE

Step 1: SETTING YOUR TERMINAL POSTS

Firstly, dig all terminal post holes with a shovel

Secondly, set posts on the left hole and the right one to keep the gate balanced when closed and opened up. The post should be placed in the center of the hole. Make sure there are at least 50 inches between two posts for safety purposes

Thirdly, after setting the posts, you should make sure the post is straight, perpendicular to the ground and parallel to the other post. You can do this by using a string in addition to leveling the instrument ruler

Fourthly, pour concrete around the post (about 3 bags of 80 lbs cement-4000 psi), and fill to ground level. You can cover that place up with dirt or sand to keep people from walking across and prevent cars from driving over top. Keep the concrete cures for 48 hours.

Step 2. HANGING YOUR IRON FENCE PANELS

Installing a driveway gate with pedestrian doors is not difficult, but it does require some planning. 

First of all, you should prepare SGMK101 Kits-2 of 1/2 in U brackets, nuts, washers, adjustable J-bolt hinges, and plates. In the next step, you will install the welded hinge plate onto 1/2 of the U-bracket at the upper post. Finally, tighten the nuts with sufficient force. 

Installment may take some time so plan carefully. 

Step 3. COMPLETE, TOUCH-UP AND CLEAN-UP OF INSTALLATION 

Before hanging your gate, make sure the gap between the 2 hinges is in relative position as shown in the figure

Align the Pedestrian gate with the post, make sure to place a 2”x4” wood block in the bottom of the gate before hanging it up. Once done adjusting, slide the thread rod of the hinge into the gate, and do the same to the upper hinge. 

Careful adjustments are needed to check whether your gate is aligned properly. You should ensure that the gate is level with the hinges. 

Step 4: ADJUSTING YOUR GATE 

Adjusting the 2 hinges as shown in the figure. To do this step, you will need to measure the distance between the frame of the gate and the post, it is a 2” gap. Make sure there is a 2″ gap between the ground level and the bottom gate.

Place the leveling instrument ruler onto the gate. Adjust the bottom hinge and top hinge so that they are even with each other.

To adjust your pedestrian gate, remove the 2”x4” wood block. Open and close it manually so that you can make sure it is done smoothly without touching any part of the U-bracket when it is open all the way

 Make a hole at the frame of the gate with dimension 1″x1″ to use the lock

Step 5. COMPLETE, TOUCH-UP, AND CLEAN UP-OF INSTALLATION

When the installation is complete, it is important to ensure that everything aligns and looks tidy.

After adjusting your pedestrian gates, you have to cut down the two posts if they are taller than the frame of the gate. Make sure the distance from ground level to the top of the two posts is the same level as the frame (6 feet). Once this has been completed install covers on posts and door frames. You should use a hammer to do this step 

To remove dirt and any concrete that may have splashed onto the gate, clean it with a soft rag and mild soap as needed. Thoroughly rinse with clean water. Moreover, to prevent rust, check and paint all places that have been damaged during handling and installation.

(Note: Check the gate for signs of wear and rust regularly and repaint if necessary.)

Finally, complete the swing gates for customers and hand them over.

Prepare Accessories For Installing Double Swing Gates

A. Tools

B. Setting Your Terminals Posts

Although post depth and hole diameter will be determined by local weather and soil conditions, holes for terminal posts and line posts are typically dug about 18″ – 20” in diameter and 36″ deep with sloped sides.

Step 1. Using a shovel to dig all terminal post holes. The holes should be dug about 18″ – 20” in diameter and 36″ deep with sloped sides.

Step 2. Place the posts in the center of the holes The distance between two posts is: 

151 inch with gate 12 ft

176 inch with gate 14 ft 

199 inch with gate 16 ft

Step 3. Using a string and leveling instrument ruler to check perpendicularity and parallelism. Don’t forget to check whether the post is straight

Step 4. Fill to ground level with concrete (about 16 bags of 80 pound cement, 4000 psi). Wait 48 hours for the concrete to cure.

C. Hanging Your Hinges

Step 1. Prepare SGMK101 Kits-4 of 1/2 in U bracket, nuts, washers, adjustable hinges and plates (Support up to 1000lbs gates)

Step 2. Install the welded hinge-plate onto 1/2 in U Bracket at upper post

Step 3. Tighten the nut. Continue this process for both hinges

D. Hanging Your Double Swing Gates

Step 1. Place a 2″x4″ wood block in the bottom of the swing gate to align it with the post.

Step 2. Insert a 7/8″ diameter alloy threaded rod into the gate and hinges. To secure the thread rod into the bottom hinge, use the floor jack to align the gate and hinge. Do the same thing with the upper hinge.

Step 3. Align the gate. Check to see if the gate level with the hinges

E. Adjusting Your Double Swing Gate s

Step 1. Secure the double swing gates with a 7/8 nut. Loosening the upper hinge-plate to provide a tight fit between the upper hinge and the gate. After adjusting the upper hinge, secure the hinge plate. Make sure the space between the hinge and the post is 3.5″.

Step 2. Check the distance from ground level to the bottom gate. The recommended distance is 2”

Step 3. On the gate, place the leveling device ruler. To make it level, adjust the bottom and top hinges.

Step 4. Remove the 2”x4” wood block. Manually open and close gate, make sure Swing gate in and out smoothly and the gate double swing gates does not touch any part of the U-bracket when it is open all the way

Step 5. Repeat the installation process for the right gate. Also, ensure that the distance between the two gates is 1″.

Step 6. After installing the double swing gates, weld a 3″ x 6″ plate to the right gate’s frame to limit the left gate’s opening angle while they are closed.

F. Complete, Touch-Up and Clean-up of Installation

Step 1. The two posts must be trimmed down if they are taller than the gate frame. Make sure the distance between the ground and the tops of the two posts is the same as the gate frame. Using a hammer to install coverings on posts and door frames.

Step 2. To remove dirt and any concrete that may have splashed onto the gate, clean it with a soft rag and mild soap as needed. To remove all soap, rinse with clean water. To prevent rust, inspect and paint all places that have been damaged during handling and installation. Check the gate for indications of wear and oxidation, and repaint as needed.

Step 3. Complete and hand over swing gates for customer

Which Side Should The Driveway Swing Gate Open?

Except under exceptional circumstances, your driveway swing gate should be installed to open inward your property. Even though driveway swing gates are designed with different way to open: slide, open inward or outward, it is recommended that they should be open inward due to three reasons: 

Building regulations: A gate on private property that opens onto a road, sidewalk or highway is illegal. This means that you will be in violation of the law if your gate is too close to the end of your driveway and open outward. 

Safety: You will face the danger when having a short driveway and installing a swing gate that opens outward. The risk can occur because your gate may obscure your vision, making it harder to notice oncoming cars. Moreover, you will be in danger because of approaching care as they do not realize that you are exiting your driveway Convenience: When you exit your driveway, your outward opening gate will likely obstruct the walkway. For those who use the sidewalk, this is inconvenient and unfair.
